About the Opportunity
As a Sr. Data Architect, you are responsible for designing, creating and implementing data management best practices, including data architecture, ingestion strategies, data modeling, and the performance of data solutions. This will involve consulting with clients across a wide set of industries, building and adopting cloud-based data warehousing solutions with a focus on operationalizing data and analytics-enabled strategies.
The Sr. Data Architect will create, enforce and maintain data best practices, standards, and governance within client engagements. Often helping define the scope, plans, and roadmaps for accelerating the data maturity of our clients. The Sr. Data Architect will sit within a cross-functional technical and strategic team to consult, implement, and change the way our clients manage their data environments.
Delivering in an agile development environment that is fast-paced and iterative, the Sr Data Architect will lead the analysis of existing infrastructure, architectures, data sources, and how they can be augmented with the latest in big data, cloud, and advanced analytics solutions.
It is imperative that the Sr. Data Architect have a comprehensive understanding of:
- Established data management, business intelligence, and big data technologies, and have knowledge of columnar and NoSQL databases, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data;
- Data Ingestion, Data Integration, and Data Warehousing design, servicing enterprise-wide business functions;
- Development life cycle of systems, project management approaches, and requirements, design, and data profiling techniques; and,
- Developing and communicating a big data strategy and approach in a clear and concise manner.
Responsibilities
- Consult clients, data engineers, data analysts, business analysts, and other teams members on applying data management best practices through the data warehouse, BI and advanced analytics environments;
- Translate business requirements into technical/data specifications, including data ingestion, integrations, transformations, data warehouses, data models, quality, and metadata approaches;
- Define the data architecture framework, standards, and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, reference data such as product codes and client categories, and master data such as clients, vendors, materials, and employees;
- Defining reference architecture and data flows for others to follow and to create and improve existing and new data systems;
- Collaborating and coordinating with multiple departments, stakeholders, partners, and external vendors to deliver the ideal data warehousing, BI and advanced analytics environments;
- Lead the identification of new data sources and negotiate data integration and ingestion methods with source system owners and vendors;
- Provide advice and direction on data availability, quality, enhancement, workflow and process optimizations that lead to higher quality data; and,
- Research and properly evaluate sources of information to determine possible limitations in reliability or usability.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Must-Have
- Minimum of 4+ years experience in data architecture, engineering, and data warehousing projects;
- Minimum of 2+ years in technology delivery roles including Solutions, Data, Enterprise or Cloud Architecture;
- Master’s Degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent experience demonstrated by progressive responsibilities;
- Certified in a globally recognized Data Management certification (i.e. CDMP, IBM Data Architect, or equivalent);
- Relevant experience in software engineering and understanding / leveraging design patterns;
- Subject matter expertise in Data Architecture, Governance, and Cloud technologies and implementation;
- Experience with at least one major Public Cloud Technology (Azure, Google Cloud, AWS) with willingness to learn depending on client’s needs;
- Experience with both batch & real-time integration technologies such as ETL / ELT, APIs, etc.;
- Solid understanding across all architectural domains (business, application, data / information, technology) from conceptual to physical perspectives;
- Strong ability to design, build and manage data pipelines for data structures encompassing data transformation, data models, schemas, metadata and workload management;
- The ability to work with both IT and business units in integrating analytics and data science output into business processes and workflows;
- Experience in assessing a broad range of information solutions and products;
- Team-player with experience leading and collaborating cross-team to ensure successful delivery of solutions;
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills - demonstrating out of the box problem solving skills and ability to develop solution architecture designs;
- Able to work in highly flexible, start-up, fast paced environment; and,
- Passion for technology, business, customer experience, innovation, and digital solutions.
